The Corvette ZR1 Hits 233 MPH With GM President Mark Reuss Driving

The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is shaping up to be one of the fastest cars in the world. General Motors President Mark Reuss recently drove it at a test track in Germany, where the ZR1 reached an incredible top speed of 233 mph. No production car under $1 million has reached this kind of speed. During several test runs, the new Corvette ZR1 consistently exceeded 230 mph, setting a new record for American sports cars.

GM's Fastest Car Yet

Powering the 2025 Corvette ZR1 is a 5.5-liter, twin-turbocharged flat-plane crank V8 engine that generates a staggering 1,064 horsepower and 828 lb-ft of torque. According to GM, this power enables the ZR1 to complete the quarter-mile in less than 10 seconds. The car also boasts a thrilling 8,000 rpm redline. An eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission ensures lightning-fast shifts. A carbon fiber aero package provides 1,200 pounds of downforce, improving the ZR1's already impressive handling.

More Than Just Performance

Beyond its performance capabilities, the Corvette ZR1 is also a showstopper in terms of design. The return of the Corvette's signature split rear window enhances engine cooling and gives the car a unique look. Several bold exterior colors are available, including Competition Yellow Tintcoat Metallic and Torch Red. The ZR1 also features 20-inch front wheels and 21-inch rear wheels, giving it an aggressive stance.

Inside, the driver-focused cockpit is packed with premium features. Standard equipment includes a performance steering wheel with options such as a 14-speaker Bose Performance Series sound system, Nappa leather seating, and a curb-view front camera.
