Although neither of these eye-catching Corvette concept cars is headed for production, they provide an exhilarating glimpse at possible future directions. The Corvette CX and CX.R Vision Gran Turismo display the inventiveness of Chevrolet's global design team and celebrate the brand's performance heritage.
Corvette CX Concept
Built to be a street-legal supercar, the Corvette CX carries an aggressive design. Its ultra-wide stance and sculpted surfaces are instantly noticeable. Perhaps the concept's most dramatic feature is its fighter-jet-inspired canopy, which opens automatically as you approach.
Under the hood, the Corvette CX has an AWD electric powertrain with four motors. Chevy rates it at a staggering 2,000 horsepower for blistering acceleration. The lithium-ion battery is mounted low in the chassis to improve weight distribution, while four-wheel torque vectoring sharpens handling. The Corvette CX also uses a Vacuum Fan System to move air through the car's open bodywork to generate extra downforce.
On the inside, the Corvette CX welcomes drivers with a cockpit centered on the driver. Premium materials such as forged carbon fiber appear throughout the cabin. A digital windscreen shows real-time performance data, and controls are seamlessly integrated into the racy steering wheel to minimize distraction.
Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo Concept
The CX.R Vision Gran Turismo is a no-compromises track car that also appears in Gran Turismo 7. A twin-turbo V8 producing 900 horsepower powers this mid-engine racer and revs up to an astonishing 15,000 rpm. The advanced powertrain features three electric motors that boost total system output to 2,000 horsepower, and renewable e-fuel enables sustainability without sacrificing performance.
Because it's intended solely for the track, the CX.R Vision Gran Turismo has a stripped interior to reduce weight. Its heavily bolstered seats keep passengers secure when cornering at speed.
